 I stared blankly out of the window, setting my gaze upon the red bird that sat in the lavender tree. The bird's vibrant plumage, and the tree's bright leaves held stark contrast to the plain halls of my home. Everything outside was bright. Raw. Here, it was dull. Filtered. As much as I hated it, I was stuck here. There were no doors, no escape. There was absolutely no one else here. My home was empty. I have no right to complain, though, as I built this home myself. I constructed it of cruel words and harsh acts. I am safe here. No one can get in to hurt me, and I can't get out to be hurt either. I'm completely sheltered from the world.
